Case Study - Bowmer and Kirkland, Joint Repair Cradley

  • Retail

McDermotts were tasked with completing a joint repair to an ASDA store in Cradley for Bowmer and Kirkland.

Remedial works were required for a defective expansion joint at an existing ASDA store between the upper-level car park and lower-level concrete retaining wall.

This four-week project began in October 2011 and the following works were carried out:

- Saw cut and break out existing tarmac.

- Remove the existing defective joint.

- Make good the existing structure where required.

- Install a new joint.

- Backfill tarmac and paint white line back to the original design.

The original specification of the joint was outside of the client budget. Using expert knowledge, McDermotts successfully sourced an alternative, more cost effective product and completed the project at less than half of the original expected cost.
